Illinois Extends Repeal Date for Renewable Energy Law

For purposes of Illinois public utilities tax, the Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Coal Resources Development Law of 1997 is repealed effective December 31, 2020. The law previously was set to repeal effective December 12, 2015. This law provides for a trust fund to provide grants, loans and other incentives to foster investment in and the development and use of renewable energy sources in Illinois.
