Brian Ray is the Data Science ML/AI Horizontal Practice Lead for Maven Wave Partners. Mr. Ray is heading the group’s mission of solving complex analytical problems for major businesses worldwide though the power of Data Science with enablement in the Cloud.
A big picture strategist, team builder and influential top technologist, he has extensive expertise in agile delivery of Data Science — from ideation/discovery, to feasibility, exploration, modeling, to engineering and architecture, to hands-on integration and deployment of best-in-class solutions.
Mr. Ray leads a team of all level Data Scientists who are credentialed and expert in latest AI and Machine Learning techniques. Mr. Ray is respected by key stakeholders in his ability to steers projects throughout its entire lifecycle. He combines a visionary approach and clear communication style with standout technical experience, including fluency in development, the ability to harness multiple methodologies, and ease working within a large range of top cloud computing techniques.
Prior to joining Maven Wave in early 2019, he spent the past 5 years leading a Data Science group within Deloitte Consulting responsible for adding Cognitive features to all the internally funded client-facing projects. Through his foresight and direction, the firm has undertaken its newest innovation designed to add AI enabled solutions to the marketplace. He also lead the firm to earn the first ever Global ML/AI Competency from AWS.
Highly recognized in the industry, Mr. Ray was named in the first ever batch of to locally famous Crain’s Chicago Business’ top “Tech 25” that listed the city most influential technologists. He was an early presenter at Google, speaking on Python technology in 2006, and has continued speaking at major conferences and businesses across the country every year. He was the chair of Chicago Python User Group (ChiPy) from 2003 to 2019.
His most notable successes for major brands include predictive clinical trials for Abbott, the global healthcare company; Machine Learning for Amgen and Cerner; introduced CFPB to Machine Learning to optimize call center, consulting Chicago-area startups like SpotHero and 1871; creating the first ever analytic and data marketing elements software for Sprint’s loyalty program.
Mr. Ray earned his degree in Computer Science from Roosevelt University. Actively contributes to open data and open source. He splits his time between LA and Chicago. In his free time, he is a Superhost on Air B&B where he hosts over 1,000 guests a year in The Greenleaf House, I hostel style bed in breakfast in Roger’s Park, Chicago.
