Michelle André
Michelle André is the Managing Member of Tre Towers Advisory Group, LLC, a firm that specializes in providing unclaimed property advisory and compliance services to business organizations. Ms. André received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Syracuse University Whitman School of Management in 1984 and her Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989. She has over twenty years of experience in the unclaimed property area and served as the unclaimed property expert and consultant in the landmark Temple-Inland, Inc. v. Cook case that was the catalyst for comprehensive changes in Delaware’s unclaimed property law. She also served as the unclaimed property expert and consultant in National Freight, Inc. v. Sidamon-Eristoff challenging New Jersey’s audit and estimation methodology.
Ms. André currently serves as Co-Chair of UPPO’s Government Relations and Advocacy Committee, the committee responsible for monitoring and advising the UPPO Board on developments in the unclaimed property area and recommending actions as appropriate. She is also a member of the American Bar Association Unclaimed Property Subcommittee which provided recommendations to the Uniform Law Commission in its drafting of the 2016 Uniform Unclaimed Property Act.
Ms. André has also assisted numerous Fortune 100, Fortune 500, middle market and start-up companies on a wide range of unclaimed property matters including defending multistate audits, negotiating voluntary compliance agreements, evaluating unclaimed property liabilities from a financial statement perspective, conducting due diligence assessments for mergers and acquisitions, and general consulting related to unclaimed property matters.
Ms. André has presented on various unclaimed property topics for national organizations such as the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organizations (“UPPO”) (the premier educational organization for unclaimed property professionals), and the Committee on State Taxation. She has authored or co-authored articles on a variety of unclaimed property topics including an article published by The Conference Board titled “Expanded Liability in Unclaimed Property – Are States Going Too Far?”
