So many of you have been sharing your interest in the ability to learn from the Sales Tax Institute – not just during our live webinars and in person classes but also at times that are more convenient for you. We’ve heard you and have been working hard to bring your more options for sales tax education and information.
Our new Webinars On-Demand can be viewed at your convenience, and they contain the same great content as our live webinars. To begin, we are offering three of our most popular and most requested webinar topics: Sales Tax 101, Basic Concepts of Drop Shipments, and Sales Tax for E-Commerce.
The Sales Tax 101 on-demand webinar covers the fundamentals of sales and use tax – how it works, the terms and definitions a beginner needs to know, and how these taxes are applied. If you’re just getting started with sales tax, this is a fantastic place to start.
Basic Concepts of Drop Shipments is a one-stop shop where you can learn the essentials of drop shipments – how they work, what sales tax issues to be aware of, potential nexus issues, resale certificate requirements, and more. With more sellers using the drop shipment model to fulfill orders every day, this on-demand webinar can help ensure that you’re handling the sales tax issues correctly.
Sales Tax for E-Commerce is one of the hottest topics in our field (see more on this below!). This on-demand webinar covers the common ways that online retailers can create nexus, which requires registration to collect and remit sales tax in a state. You’ll also learn about your options – from potential changes you can make to avoid creating nexus to what you can do if you’ve already created nexus. If you make online sales, this webinar is essential to understanding the sales tax implications.
If you’ve been looking to learn more about any one of these topics, this is a terrific opportunity to get expert training and to do it at your own convenience. And we’ll be making more topics available in the new year – so be sure to check back to see what’s new!
Our new Sales Tax Institute Blog is another fantastic new resource that I’m so excited to share with you. The blog will cover timely sales tax updates covering a range of different topics. From tax compliance to exemptions, sales tax basics, career guidance and much more, I’m thrilled to share my knowledge on these subjects with you in a great new format. And look for guest posts from our wonderful Sales Tax Institute faculty too!
You can expect the same expert sales tax guidance on the topics that matter most to you that you’ve been receiving in our monthly newsletters. And the blog will be regularly updated, so you can expect more frequent and timely updates. Make sure to bookmark the blog homepage today so you can check back for new updates!
In addition to our Webinars On-Demand and new blog, we’ll also be rolling out our new Remote Seller Nexus Chart within the next month. If you’ve been following the Sales Tax Institute with any regularity over the last few years, you know that remote seller nexus legislation is one of the biggest developments in the world of sales and use tax.
So many different types of nexus legislation are being introduced and enacted throughout the country. These include click-through, affiliate, economic and marketplace nexus. Not to mention use tax notice and reporting requirements legislation.
It can be incredibly difficult to keep up with which states have enacted the different types of legislation. That’s why we’ve created our new Remote Seller Nexus Chart. We’ve done the research and gathered all of this information in one easy-to-read chart that will be updated regularly. Keep an eye out for an announcement on this great new resource coming soon!
This has been a momentous year for us – our 20th Anniversary Celebration, a full speaking schedule including some new organizations that we are excited to work with, new faculty members to help you learn from the best in the business and now new ways to learn with the Sales Tax Institute. We value all of you and look forward to your feedback on the new delivery mode and the Blog. If you’ve got suggestions for topics you would like to hear about in the blog, drop me a note. And please consider trying the Webinars On-Demand and let us know what you think.
From the Sales Tax Institute and YETTER, we wish you a joyous holiday season and wonderful new year!
