West Virginia Announces Remote Seller Registration Webpage

The West Virginia State Tax Department has created an online registration webpage for remote sellers who meet one of the economic nexus thresholds created by the state’s legislation that became effective January 1, 2019. The new law establishes economic nexus for out-of-state vendors that delivered more than $100,000 of goods or services into West Virginia or engaged in 200 or more separate transactions during the 2018 calendar year. In order to facilitate the registration for remote sellers affected by the legislation, the Department added the new registration option to its MyTaxes portal. The MyTaxes webpage can be accessed here. Sellers can then click on the “Remote Seller Registration” button to start the online registration process.
