Utah SSTP Conformity Repealed

Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr., signed legislation on March 17, 2006, that repeals most of the provisions that would conform state law to the provisions of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement. Many of these provisions were scheduled to come into effect on July 1, 2006, which would have resulted in Utah becoming a full member of the SST Governing Board. The state, however, will remain an associate member state in the Project. In an information release at http://tax.utah.gov/sst/index.html, the State Tax Commission has asked Utah sellers to continue to remit sales and use tax in the traditional point-of-sale, or origin, manner.
