We’re Hiring an Intern!

Sales Tax Consulting Intern – Job Posting

What You’ll Be Doing… writing industry-related content, analyzing data, monitoring legislative activity, coordinating sales tax-related activities, and working on high-impact client projects. Sales Tax is a niche field and your work will directly impact the growth and success of our clients (from small businesses all the way to Fortune 500 companies!). Your work will take 10-15 hours a week during the winter/spring semester, then full time during the summer. And if you really love it, there may be an opportunity to join us as a full-time staff member when you graduate!

You are… an undergraduate student for Business (or a similar field) who is excited to be part of fully-remote, multi-state firm. You may not know much about sales tax, but you embrace learning and like the challenge of the unknown. Of course, you’re comfortable with basic office technology (Google and Microsoft), as well as collaboration tools like Slack. You’re someone who is detail-oriented, always rechecking things to be sure they’re correct and asking questions to be sure nothing is missed. You’re also already thinking about your career path (if you love working with us, there might be opportunities to join us after you graduate).

What’s in it for you… there is no substitute for the kind of hands-on, client-related work that you’ll be part of in this role. You’ll get to try a lot of different activities, working closely with professionals in the field, both inside and outside the company. You’ll learn from talented business leaders who welcome questions, actively support each other’s work and are committed to making your intern experience valuable. Beyond that, you’ll be a valued member of a team that prioritizes collaboration and fun, and  will be recognized and seen (interns are real people to us!).

Here’s what makes the job challenging… we don’t want there to be any surprises! Since we’re almost entirely remote, you’ll need to be self-driven and comfortable generating results without in-person oversight. Since we work with other people’s money, you need to be someone who is obsessed with details. In other words, if you’re more interested in the big picture and get bored when working on execution,  this job is not for you. This is also an environment that is always changing – you might not always know the answers (or they might be changing), so you need to be comfortable leveraging the internet and other tools to research answers and translate them to our staff and clients.

How you know you’re successful in this position… You’ll know you’re successful if your work is consistently capturing and accounting for specific details given the projects you’re involved with, if you’re able to keep up with the pace of work with our teammates, and if you’re delivering valuable content and information based off your online research.
