Overview

The South Dakota v. Wayfair decision on June 21, 2018 was a watershed moment in sales tax. It’s hard to believe it was only a year ago – so much has happened since that date! When anyone speaks about the history of U.S. sales tax, they will likely speak in terms of  “pre-Wayfair” and “post-Wayfair.”

While this is an exciting development for sales tax professionals, it can be stress-inducing for everybody else. The Wayfair decision is a historic regime change for sales tax, and it has most everybody scrambling to figure out where they now have nexus and what they need to do to get compliant with the new rules.

States across the country have been busy enacting remote seller nexus legislation – such as economic nexus, marketplace nexus, and more – and the rules can differ on a state-by-state basis. If you’re making sales into other states, it is crucial to understand the new nexus rules NOW and how to comply with them.

Who should attend?

This webinar is intended for anyone who needs to understand where they have sales tax nexus now that the South Dakota v. Wayfair decision has been handed down.

This webinar is essential for remote sellers, including online sellers, online marketplace sellers, and sellers making sales into multiple states.

Financial and operations personnel who deal with sales and use tax as part of their responsibilities will also greatly benefit from this webinar. General practitioners, with minimal to no experience all the way to highly experienced pros are appropriate for this course.

Additional Details About the "Catch Up On the New Reality for Nexus Post-Wayfair" Webinar

If you make retail sales – especially if you make online sales, either independently or through an online marketplace – the U.S. Supreme Court’s South Dakota v. Wayfair decision on June 21, 2018 was a game changer. But this decision didn’t just impact retailers. Anyone who makes sales has to evaluate what this means for them, including wholesalers, manufacturers, service providers and even non-profit organizations. Anyone who makes a sale is impacted!

States across the country now have free rein to enact nexus legislation on out-of-state sellers and require them to collect and remit sales tax on their sales. If you make sales in multiple states, this can quickly become a sales tax nightmare.

The economic nexus and marketplace nexus legislation that states have been busy enacting over the last few years ensure that nobody slips through the cracks when it comes to sales tax collection requirements. And it can be awfully difficult to keep track of which states require sales tax remittance of you, let alone interpreting and understanding the rules in each state.

This webinar will help clear the air when it comes to sales tax nexus. You’ll understand the new nexus landscape, how to decipher the different states’ rules, and the corrective actions that you can take if you now have nexus.

Don’t get left behind. Attend this webinar to understand your new nexus obligations and how to stay compliant.
