The European Union’s Proposed Digital Levy Due to be Removed

The European Union had a proposed digital levy that would help fund the region’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and due to historic bond borrowing. “The borrowing, by the European Commission on behalf of EU countries, is to be repaid over 30 years from new taxes, among them levies on the digital economy and on CO2 emissions.” The digital levy to repay the EU was recently suspended and has now been removed permanently from the EU legislative agenda.
