Arizona TPT License Renewals Due January 1, 2019

All businesses that are licensed with the Arizona Department of Revenue (DOR) are required to renew their Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) license by January 1, 2019. The DOR has announced that it will send renewal letters to businesses in November. Before renewing their licenses, the DOR encourages TPT taxpayers to update and verify their account information in order to avoid fees and penalties. Registered businesses can update their account at https://www.aztaxes.gov but must have an e-signature PIN to make changes. Arizona TPT licenses are valid for one calendar year, from January 1 through December 31. There is no renewal fee for the state license but may be applicable city fees of up to $50 per jurisdiction. If a business or location has closed, the TPT license must be cancelled to avoid the renewal requirement and potential fees and penalties. Arizona state law requires taxpayers with multiple business locations to renew their TPT license electronically. For tax periods beginning on January 1, 2019, the threshold to file and pay electronically will lower to an annual transaction privilege or use tax liability of $10,000 or more. The DOR encourages taxpayers to enroll to file and pay online via the AZtaxes.gov website. (Arizona Department of Revenue, News and Announcements, October 15, 2018)
