South Carolina Announces New Consolidated Sales Tax Return Filing Option

The South Carolina Department of Revenue (DOR) has announced a new Consolidated Sales Tax Return filing option for businesses that have multiple locations. The new option allows businesses to file a single return for multiple locations instead of having to file both Form ST-3 (State Sales and Use Tax Return) and Form ST-389 (Schedule for Local Taxes). Note that the Consolidated Sales Tax Return filing option is only available for monthly filers with retail sales tax accounts. In order to use this filing option, businesses must first apply and be approved by the DOR. Once approved, taxpayers will use the DOR’s MyDORWAY online portal to file Consolidated Sales Tax Returns. To apply for this new filing option, visit the DOR’s Consolidated Sales Tax Returns webpage, which also contains a video tutorial and FAQs. Businesses with multiple locations in South Carolina should strongly consider applying for this filing option as it can reducing filing time and increase accuracy.
