Advice and Accomplishments of Women in Sales Tax

As we reach the end of Women’s History Month, it’s a great time to look back on some amazing women in sales tax. Here at the Sales Tax Institute, we aspire to appreciate the accomplishments and successes of the many women in sales tax each and every day, inside and outside of our own work family!

We are a women-led, woman-owned company that strives to support and acknowledge the women that strengthen the sales tax community. We have celebrated 50 trailblazing women in sales tax with our Women to Watch in Sales Tax YouTube series, where we listen to inspiring women from different areas of the field, across industries and job titles, and learn more about their paths that led them to pursuing sales tax.

To wrap up this important month, we have gathered highlights from our women team members’ and Sales Tax Nerd Award winners to celebrate their accomplishments. We are also featuring advice from several of our “Women to Watch in Sales Tax” participants  about navigating careers in the field to encourage other women to persevere, welcome new opportunities, never stop learning, and to keep growing in their careers.

Celebrating Our Team Members’ Proudest Moments

Our team is our greatest asset. The women on our team help our company to be better, continue improving, and give back to our community. We are highlighting three of our sales tax consultants that embody determination and success. This short video includes Trisha Davidson, our Senior Tax Manager, Mollie Swann, our Sales Tax Manager, and Katherine Elmore, our Staff Consultant.

Celebrating Our Sales Tax Nerd Award Winners’ Proudest Moments

Each year we select and celebrate a Sales Tax Institute alumni professional dedicated to the study and practice of sales tax. The award recognizes one individual that demonstrates a dedicated passion and commitment to learning about indirect tax. We have taken the time to commemorate three of our women award winners from previous years: Cherie Julius (2019), from US Foods, Kelly Smith (2020), from Evolve Vacation Rental, and Nancy Steele (2022), from TaxOps.

Hearing Our “Women to Watch in Sales Tax” Participants’ Advice

We reach out to admirable women in sales tax to learn more about their experiences and advice for other women navigating sales tax. We have bundled a few of our recent participants’ advice in a short video to recognize their recommendations and helpful perspective on how to manage your career. The video features Aleksandra Bal, from Stripe, Valerie Heckman, from Luma Tax, Lenore Vidal, from CDW, and Jamie Szal, from Brann & Isaacson.

Thank you for taking the time to appreciate these pioneering women in sales tax with us. We are grateful to have learned more about their experiences and advice on how to be successful in the sales tax field. Happy Women’s History Month!
