Governing Board Accepts Washington as a Full Member State

Washington State became a full member of the Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) Governing Board, effective July 1, 2008. In 2007, the Governing Board approved Washington’s petition to become a full member if all provisions were in conformity, including destination-based sales tax collection. Washington amended its sales tax laws in both 2007 and 2008 to conform to the requirements of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement (SSUTA). All sellers registered under the SST agreement must now collect tax on sales into Washington. (Streamlined Sales Tax Project Web Page: www.streamlinedsalestax.org)
