Louisiana Remote Sellers Commission Announces It Will Develop Tax Refund Policy

The Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers has announced that it will develop a policy for taxpayers to claim refunds for overpaid taxes. During a virtual meeting on January 14, 2021, Commission Chairwoman Darlene Allen said that the Commission will create a refund mechanism soon since at least one refund claim was forthcoming. Allen indicated that the Commission has intended to create a refund policy, but the pending claim would expedite the discussions. Currently, the Commission’s system does not allow for individual refunds. For the time being, Allen said the Commission hopes to have purchasers apply to their vendors for a refund. We’ll monitor for developments and keep you updated here.
