New York Legislation has postponed the expiration of sales and use tax on certain services in the city of New York. The tax, which was set to expire on December 31, 2008, will now be in effect until December 31, 2011. Affected services include: credit rating, reporting, and adjustment, collection services, beauty, barbering, hair restoring, manicuring, pedicuring, electrolysis, massage, and every sale of services or fee for use charged by weight control salons, health salons, gymnasiums, Turkish and sauna baths, and similar establishments.
