South Carolina Enacts Exemption for Feminine Hygiene Products

On May 13th, the governor of South Carolina signed a bill bringing into effect a sales tax exemption for feminine hygiene products. For the purposes of the exemption, the term “feminine hygiene products” means tampons, sanitary napkins, and other similar personal care items for use in connection with the menstrual cycle. This bill follows the trend of exemptions for feminine hygiene products being enacted across states in the last few years, including exemptions being enacted in Texas and Virginia in 2023.
