Texas Comptroller announced that recently passed legislation has changed the dates for the annual three-day Texas sales tax holiday on clothing and footwear to begin on the third Friday in August; thus it will now occur on August 17-19, 2007, rather than August 3-5, 2007. In addition, backpacks used by elementary and secondary students have been added to the list of exempt items. During the sales tax holiday, clothing and footwear priced under $100 will be exempt from state and local sales tax.
