Tammy Abla
Tammy is an AP Accountant at QuantiTech. Tammy has made accounting her chosen field because she loves the balancing act of it all – sales tax is her wild card, the part of the job that keeps her on her toes and entertained. Tammy works in government contracting and is building a sales and use tax expertise in this difficult industry. She is the go-to sales tax person in her company and is excited to pass on her sales tax knowledge by leading training seminars for her company’s buyers and accounting department.
To find answers in sales tax, sometimes, as Tammy says, “you have to go hunting through the weeds and tackle them to the ground.” She’s a sales tax nerd because of her desire for perfection – she doesn’t want an “ok” answer, she wants THE answer and all the documentation to back it up.
Linda Bellizio
Linda is a Tax Manager at DollarDays International Inc. Linda first learned the ropes of sales tax as a “Kelly Girl” temporary employee in 1989. Something about it drew her in and she’s worked in the tax field ever since, compiling a variety of experiences in sales tax, property tax, and fuel tax. Linda is committed to being a lifelong learner and doesn’t shy away from challenges, such as building her current tax department from the ground up. She has a passion for mentoring student interns in her company and educating the nonprofit customers her company serves about sales tax.
Linda is a sales tax nerd because she lives and breathes tax. Sales tax is on her mind when she goes to bed, sometimes resulting in “ah-ha!” moments about how to improve something in the compliance cycle as she drifts off to sleep.
Will Mayer
Will is the Director of Indirect Tax at Refinitiv. Will’s career in sales tax began because of curiosity and a desire to be challenged. He quickly went from an accountant volunteering to help out with sales tax to a committed sales tax enthusiast when he realized no two days would be the same. Throughout his career, Will has played the role of a serious sales tax fixer, addressing sourcing issues and negotiating audits that have saved millions for his employers. Will loves the endless learning in sales tax and seeing how small words and phrases in regulations can have a major affect your business.
Will is a sales tax nerd because he loves the variety and complexity of the field. The concepts, applications, people, law and regulation changes, and overall problem solving required in the sales tax industry keep him motivated. Today, some of his income tax colleagues hesitate to get him started talking about sales tax.
